The man was possessed by Satan when he scored T2's soundtrack. What an incredible piece of software it was, and how unheralded it was too. Most mags I read gave it the good sheiving usually saved for piss poor games and those games who didn't manage to make it to the mags offices in time for a fair review.
An average game at best they said. It was even planned for an XBox release for a while so I'm told. An XBox LiveArcade incarnation would be a most welcome addition to any modern collection and a sodding good reintroduction to a mindblowingly ahead-of-it's-time piece of software history.
I'm gonna shut up now, if there was a competition for most enthusiastic review ever, I chuffing win! View all comments 1.
The Graphics were good. The gameplay was great and it has the best music ever. Although like the others it's a bit too easy this game is polished to perfection.
A great advert for the amiga The music was class. Had a bit of trouble with the second disk so didn't get to play the levels after the spaceship section as much. The game is great. Theres been a couple of remakes of Turrican in recent years. Turrican is a PC game, basically the same graphical style as Turrican 2 but with different levels and a level editor.
But boy, turrican 2 was something else! Super fast, colourful graphics, amazing gameplay, superb level design, the bosses, the music, the fx All perfect and as good as it could possibly get.
I finished the game a couple of times.. After all these years i feel like having another go. It's THE Killer-application for the amiga.
Best amiga-game and Jump'n'Run ever. The game which made me buy my amiga. I love it. Just ignore those trendy, left-wing morons from amiga power magazine. I have fond memories of buying this for the C64 and completing on my second go - but I didn't feel dissapointed!
I was just as impressed with it on the Amiga, with the added talking and music it seemed so advanced! Even now with Xboxs and the like no game has impressed me so much. Zenon Best of the series, the more playable, and great soundtracks!!! No comment needed. Probably best game soundtrack ever. Great playability. I finished this game countless times with more than 30 lives! A must have. Turrican 2 is better than Turrican 1 in every way possible And Turrican 1 was already excellent.
The animation is more detailed, the music is Chris Huelsbeck's masterpiece, the levels are larger and more interesting, and the jetpack stages have been replaced with shooter stages that could have been sold as their own separate game. Turrican 2 is the best Amiga game ever made. Thumbs up, 10! The game itself is stunning and never boring Always a new toy or enemy The music is simply incredible and I would quite often just load the game up just to listen to it.
The gamplay is brill as is the level design, even with todays machines pc's to xbox's theres just nothing to beat this. My twin cousins love play it all time. They never left my computer. A great design of the game, and even cool sounds and music. Controling Turrican was a bit complicated, but I training a lot,and I can control better.
And what can I say. This game has it all. Great music, fantastic sfx, adequate graphics. And boy is this game playable. Yes, I have to admit, my fist comment was made, because I already had them all. All the great games for Amiga. And Turrican 2 was just another game, that needed to be played. I rushed through this game and didn't see the beauty of this title. So now I can honestly say, I changed my first vote 2 to a more and appropriate 8.
Quite simply the dogs danglies. This is a well known method to avoid bias. Example: Suppose there are 10 votes that goes like: 1,1,9,9,9,9,9,9,9,9. In calculating the final score the lowest 2 the two 1's and the highest 2 two of the 9s will be excluded so that the new score is 9 and votes of people with big positive and negative biases are avoided.
Seriously folks, even if you hate the genre, you have to give this game the credit it's due. Unless of course you're just out to skew the voting system so that your favourite is at the top Amazing music, HUGE levels, beautiful graphics, difficulty is just about right.
My favourite Amiga action game, hands down. This game is something very special. Possibly my favourite. It never fails to push all the right button's. I remember the first time I reached the space ship levels. After it load's your met with beautiful, smooth graphics and then that music begins to play. It still gets me going today.
If you like your platform shooters, IMHO you really can't get much better than this. I have completed it countless times and after all these years it's still an amazing experience. The level design is almost flawless and the game plays like a dream, backed up by cool graphics and an unbeatable soundtrack. Highly recommended.
Back in the day, I played the C64 version first and was initially disappointed at the Amiga version not having the bass-ey sounding explosions, but eventually the Amiga version grew on me with it's top notch soundtrack and smooth scrolling to the point I preferred it to the C64 version. Excellent graphics, addictive playability, and brilliant soundtrack make me rate this a 9.
I agree with ColinP best game ever made on the Amiga probably my all time fave! Wolverine Superb. From the very first time I heard that intro music start up and the logo appear, I fell in love with this game. Great graphics, superb music and top class gameplay. Realizing that he is the only one left to combat the evil of the invaders and restore peace and freedom to the galaxy, he gets up and hurries to the equipment room.
There, Bren sights the new Turrican fighting suits, which are built of the most advanced technology known to mankind. Six large worlds are to be explored, where you are basically free to go everywhere you want, since there is no automatic scrolling and the levels are packed with hidden extra lives and weapons.
All those levels are very different: the first one in the rock desert is pretty colorful with parallaxing rainbow background and happy music, while the following worlds get darker and darker. The music from Turrican was released in the Turrican Soundtrack Anthology on November 24, as a 4-volume digital download.
The title screen for Turrican is based upon the Manowar album cover Kings of Metal. Turrican can be described as a cross between Metroid and Psycho-Nics Oscar. While the huge levels and the morph-ball function were inspired by Metroid, the overall graphics design and weapons were inspired by Psycho-Nics Oscar. Unlike many other action games of its time, Turrican did not force the player to complete a linear level. Instead, the player can explore each level and uncover secrets.
