Garth hunt pony club horse trials

Despite the terrible weather — we even had snow! The girls did amazingly well and we were placed in every class that we entered both in the teams and as Individuals. Congratulations go to, in no particular order……..

Saturday 9 th Feb. Sunday 10 th Feb. A really successful weekend for Garth Hunt — well done to all those involved. A very well done to all three of them, and we wish them all good luck in the Area Finals.

Louise did 2 beautifull tests and all bar one of her competitors were adults on horses. She got a 5th in the Intro A test only 2 placings off quailifing for there championship show.

And a 6th in the prelim Louise rode beauitifully and her ponyStar was very well behaved. Any extra detail will be marked down in a tack and turnout competition.

New equipment is not expected, but what is worn must be clean, neat and tidy. The Competitor is ultimately responsible for complying with all rules relating to dress for the particular Sport they are participating in. It is mandatory for all Members to wear a protective helmet at all times when mounted with a chinstrap fastened and adjusted so as to prevent movement of the hat in the event of a fall.

This rule defines the quality of manufacture that is required. The individual Sports also have additional requirements with regard to colour and type.

It is strongly recommended that second hand hats are not purchased. For cross-country riding over 80cm including Eventing, Tetrathlon, Horse Trials, Pony Racing whether it be tests, rallies, competition or training and Mounted Games competitions, a jockey skull cap must be worn with no fixed peak, peak type extensions or noticeable protuberances above the eyes or to the front, and should have an even round or elliptical shape with a smooth or slightly abrasive surface, having no peak or peak type extensions.

A removable hat cover with a light flexible peak may be used if required. It is strongly recommended that a jockey skull cap is worn for cross- country riding over lower fences less than 80cm as there is research evidence that a fall onto the fixed peak can result in an over extension of the neck backwards with the potential for serious injury. For Show Jumping and Mounted Games the cover, if applicable, shall be dark blue, black or brown only. The Pony Club Hat silk is also acceptable.

No recording device is permitted e. The fit of the hat and the adjustment of the harness are as crucial as the quality. Members are advised to try several makes to find the best fit. The hat should not move on the head when the head is tipped forward. Hats must be replaced after a severe impact as subsequent protection will be significantly reduced.

Hats deteriorate with age and should be replaced after three to five years depending upon the amount of use. Hats, must be worn at all times including at prize-giving when mounted with a chinstrap fastened and adjusted so as to prevent movement of the hat in the event of a fall.

Body Protectors: The Pony Club does not make the use of body protectors compulsory, except for all Cross Country riding and Pony Racing whether it be training or competing. Further details will be communicated when the standard is launched and a revised body protector rule will be available on the Pony Club website. Unfortunately we also had to cancel our Windsor ride as turn out was below acceptable numbers. We will be running it again this year if we can get the support. We did finish the week on a high as our eventing riders did Garth Hunt proud at the Area competition held at Tweseldown.

There were a number of stella performances at Tweseldown. Karen Callard, please take a bow for organising horse, riders and the committee.

Thanks to all those who came along to support. For once the weather held its breath and we stayed dry. I hope we will see all of you at our Wednesday evening Wayside rally this week.

Hosted by Kerry Grimster, our ace show jumping coach this has become a stand out event for all this e in Garth Hunt Pony Club. Kerry is still competing at the highest levels and we are very fortunate to have her working with us. Our Wednesday sessions are open to all abilities so please come along. My special thanks goes to Sharon Day and Tracy Skinner who do such a great job in making sure you all have a great time.

Congratulations to the Garth Hunt Minis who have qualified for the Nationals today by coming second in the Area qualifiers today. A full report will follow shortly and we wish the team the very best as they go forward to the Nationals competition on the 2nd of June. I arrived just before the class was about to start to find a very relaxed Adam and his mum Vickie in the stands watching the end of the class before waiting for the course walk.

It was a perfect setting, sun shining and the mud had dried out from the days rain before and the place was buzzing… mainly with the Adam fan club. The standard was high with a fast clear round towards the start of the class in They did a foot perfect round, taking all the tight turns and not wasting any time, you could have heard a pin drop as we all held our breath as they approached the last fence all looked good but unfortunately they just rolled the last jump. Adam had the fastest 4 faults and finished a respectable 7th.

I have known Adam and Vickie for many years and it is great to see all their hard work and effort pay off, they are a great Pony Club family and we are lucky to have them in our club. Published recently in the H7H we thought we should remind all our members about the importance controlled equine medication. They attended several training sessions spread out over a couple of weeks at the Berkshire Riding Center, which is our local Pony Club Centre in Winkfield, followed by an exam on Sunday.

BRC said it was an honour to teach them, all where knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very polite, great ambassadors for our club. Well done again girls. The Pony Club Recommend that young riders who have passed the Road Rider Test should be encouraged to take the BHS Road Safety Test before riding on the road unaccompanied and even then only when the person responsible for their safety is entirely satisfied that, in their opinion, it is safe for the young person s to do so.

Garth Hunt sent two teams to Chase Farm in Surrey. This was our first outing with new trainer Becky Ruffell. As always at friendly competitions, the competition was fierce and there were several out of area teams. Tabitha and Bea were both particularly brave as their ponies were being rather cheeky to say the least!

We are now all fired up for the area competition next month and practising every Saturday afternoon. A big thank you to Becky who is doing a fantastic job training the children :. The weather looks promising today.
